I love books. I love Chase, and then I love books.
And now I’m feeling guilty that it looks like I love my kids less than books SO FINE I love my family and people and THEN books.
I’m currently reading an awesome book called “Mind, Body, Home” by Tisha Morris. It’s about the energy of a home in a feng shui sense. I’m totally a believer that we have, process, emit, etc. energy, and that the things we surround ourselves with (especially our homes) can impact that energy. There were three types of energy (or luck, as she calls them) that Tisha (we’re basically BFF’s now) introduced me to:
- Heaven Energy = the cards we are given, what we are born with, destiny
- Earth Energy = the land and our environment, what we choose to surround ourselves with
- Human Energy = our will, drive, intentions, attitude, efforts, thoughts
Intentional House lives in the Earth Energy sphere, with an important chunk of Human Energy intention, and with respect to the Heaven Energy of our present circumstances. There’s tons to learn about feng shui (some of which is a little out of my comfort zone) like maps and symbols and flows and chi and crystals and so forth. But the basic idea is that our stuff can be more than just things we fill our lives with, but rather, enriching and even personally representative entities.
What resonated with me the most about the concept of environmental energy was that by taking steps to intentionally beautify, organize, or improve your home, you can also be improving your personal life. Perhaps the whole home-as-a-symbol-of-self concept is a lot to take in, but I think we can all agree that we feel better when our homes are put together to a reasonable degree.
So what can you get rid of? Organize? Clean? Or Beautify?
Feeling better and more prosperous already.
